The Winemaker's Special

Our CORLEY Proprietary Red Wine is, in a sense, a contemporary wine - a wine that while
collectable for long cellaring distinguishes itself by showing opulent fruit and rich texture
earlier in the wine's life. We trust that you will enjoy it from the moment that the wine is
released as well as in the years to follow.

Our 2002 CORLEY Propriety Red Wine is a great representative of the stellar 2002 Vintage, in which these ‘Bordeaux’ varietals are showing an amazing depth of quality in aromatics, flavors and texture.  The Vintage, in general – and certainly this wine, is tending toward early enjoyment and graceful aging! Our Vintage 2002 has intertwined characteristics of the previous three vintages.  As was the case with 2001, Merlot is the predominant varietal (50%) followed closely by Cabernet Franc (40%) and then Cabernet Sauvignon makes up the balance (10%) at levels approximating the Vintage 1999.

15 Year Anniversary Wine - Still Rich and a bit Rambunctious!

Our 2003 CORLEY Proprietary Red Wine is another great representative of the vintage, in which these ‘Bordeaux’ varietals are showing an amazing depth of quality in aromatics, flavors and texture. The Vintage in general, and certainly this wine, is once again tending toward early enjoyment and graceful aging!

The aromas are deep and dark, conjuring up plums, dark berry jams, cedar and pencil lead. The texture of the wine is full and rich, yet is framed with firm and straightforward tannin. The finish is lingering and the tannins fall off the back of the tongue to reveal a nice fatness of fruit. Our Vintage 2003 has intertwined characteristics of the previous three vintages. As is often the case, Cabernet Franc is the predominant varietal (55%), followed by Merlot (25%) and a good dose of Cabernet Sauvignon makes up the balance (20%).

Continuing along my musical theme from above, this wine‟s opening stanza is a medley of blueberry, blackberry, floral and sweet oak tones. The chorus is lovely, the tannins laying down a solid rhythmic bass line, while the berry aromatics and dark fruit flavors entertain with an “echo” jam evoking some of the old-school boogie-woogie piano jams of old. The finish is sweet, lingering and smoky – like the last song of the evening in a downtown jazz club. – Chris Corley, Winemaker

The dark fruit and berry aromas mix beautifully with the vanilla and mocha oak
influences. I also find a nice smokiness from the toasted oak in the background;
it is a very inviting aroma. On the palate, the wine has a firm but appealing entry.
The tannins are medium in intensity and frame the rich texture beautifully. The wine
is full of dark fruit and dark chocolate flavor. With an hour or so in the glass, this
wine opens up to even more layers of fruit in both the nose and on the palate. The
finish lasts and lasts.

This wine is showing nice red-berry and blackberry aromas with accents of eucalyptus and other nice herbal spice notes on the nose. On the palate the wine is showing an exceptional balance of rich texture, fine-grained tannins and a gentle acidity which forms a nice backbone to the vibrant fruit flavors. The wine has a gentle but lasting and well-structured finish which should fare well with a rich meal or a backyard burger.

It will drink well now, through 2022. In its youth, and likely beyond, this richly textured wine will reward the patient oenophile. Decant for 45 minutes.

This wine has a deep and vibrant magenta hue that persists to the edge of the glass. The aromas are very inviting, enticing with tones of dark berry fruits, chocolate and smoky coffee. On the palate the wine makes a bold entrance which is reaffirmed by a strong personality at its core. The mid-palate is big and the wine is nicely framed with chewy tannins that will allow this wine to age gracefully well into the next decade. The finish is long and lingering and this wine will reward the patient oenophile. Decant for 30 – 60 min.

The Art of Cabernet Based Blending

The CORLEY Proprietary Red Wine represents the art of blending the depth and richness of cabernet sauvignon with the structure and spice of cabernet franc and the smooth elegance of merlot. As for 2013, I find expressive and dense aromas of dark black berries, cassis, mocha and hints of sweet toasted vanilla oak and spice tones. On the palate the full bodied wine is richly
textured with robust tannins, dark ripe flavors and a finish that goes on and on.
Drink from 2016-2036.

It is a celebration of the depth that can be attained with Cabernet Franc in Oak Knoll District.

2015 remained a relatively dry growing season, and the crop yields across our different vineyards was generally lower than normal. The fruit displayed great purity and intensity, which was translated quite well through to the finished wines. The growing season was relatively consistent, with no major heat spikes. In general, the wines from 2015 are displaying ripe fruit, great structure and balance.
