We are pleased to have this crown jewel vineyard!
(and it is farmed organically - certified)

In 1982, we began purchasing cabernet sauvignon from this vineyard on State Lane in Yountville and we have referred to it as ‘State Lane Vineyard’ on some of our earliest cabernet sauvignon wines.  The vineyard quickly became the main source of Cabernet Sauvignon for our CORLEY RESERVE Cabernet Sauvignon and in 1989 we had the good fortune to be able to acquire the vineyard.

The cabernet sauvignon vines farmed in the 1980’s were originally planted in 1971. Due to phylloxera we replanted the vineyard in the 1990’s. The 12+ acre site is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon clone #337.

Tasting Notes
This wine is offering wonderful aromas of dark blackberry, cassis, hints of vanilla, and undertones of sweet caramel from the barrels. On the palate, the wine is bold upon entry, with characteristically robust tannins on the edges of the palate. The mid-palate is full, providing depth and a strong foundation. The finish is long and lingering, and with a slight grip, as is typical for this vineyard.
DECANTER 95 Points Dave Allen: Smoky, spicy nose, creamy body, fleshy tannins, good acidity and not cloying at all. A very attactive wine with a fruity, long finish. Stephen Brook: Gorgeous, pure blackcurrant nose, with discreet toasty oak, elegant. Fresh and limpid, concentrated with polished tannins and a spicy mid-palate. Has verve and succulence and charm. Balanced and long. Terry Kandylis: Bit shy on the nose. On the palate there are ripe black fruit notes with hints of tomato. There are nice acidity levels that make the wine linger. ____________________________________________________________________________________ WINE SPECTATOR 93 Points Grippy and tight, with a hefty dose of charcoal-tinged toast framing the core of steeped black currant and fig fruit flavors. Offers lots of tar and bramble accents through the finish, while the fruit and toast keep pace with each other. Muscular wine. Best from 2021 through 2032.—J.M. _____________________________________________________________________________________ CONNOISSEURS’ GUIDE *ONE STAR (90 Points - Fine example of wine without notable flaws.) Sporting plenty of slight vibrant, very pure Cabernet fruit on the nose and opening to show a trim of briary spice and an integral dollop of toasty oak, this well-filled youngster starts out similarly on the palate then takes a turn to slightly pushy tannins that are boosted in their effect by evident acidity. There are good pieces here, but additional aging is very much needed for them all to coalesce, and, if sure to benefit from three or four years, we feel confident in predicting that it will be better yet after resting for six to eight.
Vineyard Notes
Our State Lane Vineyard produces fruit that is deep, dark, and bold. Located in the Yountville AVA, the cooler climate allows for a longer growing season which contributes to the Cabernet grapes slow, even ripening.
Production Notes
At the time of this writing, the 2015 vintage represents the fourth year in a phenomenal run of vintages from 2012-2018 for our vineyards and across Napa Valley. The fruit displayed great purity and intensity, which translated quite well through to the finished wines. This single vineyard wine was vinified from certified organic grapes from our State Lane Vineyard in Yountville.
Winemaker Notes
We suggest decanting 30-60 min prior to serving.
We produced 18 barrels.
