    Wine Profile
    Production Notes
2011 was a fantastic vintage for Pinot Noir on our Home Ranch. The vintage produced wonderfully balanced grapes. They expressed ripe fruit character, mature tannins, yet with low brix levels, which in turn resulted in lower alcohols. We have generally found that blending our clones on the property results in the best expression of Pinot Noir from our ranch, and 2011 was no exception. These wines were fermented and aged in French oak barrels, 88% new. The oak integrated seamlessly into the wines. This wine was aged in oak barrels for 22 months prior to bottling.
    Winemaker Notes
The wine is very expressive aromatically. The glass bursts with aromas of red berry fruits, cherries and cranberries. There are secondary aromas of cola, curry and cinnamon. The oak is nicely interlaced, adding a pleasing tone of vanilla and cedar plank on a barbeque. On the palate, the wine is quite generous, almost decadently so. The attack is full yet rich, a golden hand in a velvet glove. The powerful midpalate offers wonderfully balanced components. The finish is long and lingering, and just keeps going. This wine will benefit from gentle decanting in its youth, and will age gracefully for 8-10 years. Drink Now through 2023.
